Alexander Ikhide

Alexander Ikhide is a London-based visual artist who was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He first came to the UK at the age of 14, and cites his arrival in London as a pivotal juncture in his life at which he became more conscious of his unique identity. It was art that gave Alexander the means to express his understanding of his sense of place in the 21st Century, and to reflect on his experiences.

Alexander recently graduated from the Bath Spa University with a BA in contemporary art. Working mainly in digital collages, Alexander creates compositions that engage with themes of identity and representation. By using different found images and graphics he explores sexuality, race, bodies, and his own cultural identity. “As an African, as well as an artist, it is important for me to create new representations.”
